CHAPTER SEVENTEEN - LUKE

I was at work when my neighbor called and said I had company at my house. I asked him who it was and he said Ant was over there. I found it odd that he was there when I was at work and couldn’t figure out for the life of me what he would be doing there. I told my boss I had a family emergency and needed to go check on something so he would let me leave early. I told him that if I could I would be back but that I wasn’t sure.

I left work which was about an hour from my house; yea it’s far but the pay was off the chain so I took the job. I plan to move closer to my job because I was up for a supervisor’s position but I was waiting until I was sure I had the promotion before I up and did that. I got to my house and saw Ant’s car parked in my driveway as I slowly rode down my street. I didn’t pull into the driveway but parked up the street because he had already been there for at least an hour so I wanted to see how much longer he would be there.

He came out about ten minutes later looking at his watch and I assumed that he might have been waiting for me. I decided that I was just gonna go back to work since it looked like I might have come here for nothing. Next time I talked to my neighbor I was gonna tell him to mind his business because I was gonna miss three hours of work for this bullshit.

I decided to call Jessica and see what she was doing.

“Hey Baby, wassup, are you on break?” she asked sounding a little out of breath.

“Yea I had to go across town to pick something up for the boss. What you doing?” I asked.

“Nothing just watching TV,” she said.

“You been home all night?” I asked.

“Well yea! Where do I need to go when I have to work in the morning?” she asked.

“By yourself?” I asked.

“Yea, was someone supposed to be coming over?” she asked.

Right then a red flag went up because why wouldn’t she tell me that Ant was here? If he was here waiting for me, which he shouldn’t have been because I was at work, but she should have at least mentioned it to me. I’m not sure why she didn’t say anything to me about it but I promised myself that I would get to the bottom of it though.

“Well let me get back to work, I’ll see you when I get off,” I said.

“Okay Babe, I love you,” she cooed.

“Yea, I love you too Jessica,” I said.

I hung the phone up feeling puzzled but determined to find out what went on here.
